I live in the deep South. It rarely snows here, even in the deepest Winter. When it does snow it's just a smattering and not even worthy of being called snow. When I lived in Virginia I would still get as excited as a child when it snowed, especially if it was close to Christmas. It brings back wonderful childhood memories of slippery hills and sleds, of bonfires and hot chocolate. Of the familiar landscape taking on a Christmas card vista. I always think of snow as a special gift from our creator. A covering of purity to hide all the ugly things that jar our sense of beauty and harmony. Have a Merry Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate this time of year. I hope you have snow. If we have nothing else to give, we can give love to each other and God's creatures and that's the best gift of all.
