All Around Us
Life is a thing of wonder. Just the fact that your heart beats and your breath comes is a marvel. The way our bodies are made and how they function, marvelous indeed. Our brains, their ability to reason, question and remember; what a wondrous thing. Think of all the multitude of ways we could be physically hurt or even killed and how we escape those catastrophes, every moment of every day, then wonder at the preservation of life itself.
` The kingdom of animals is so diverse and each species has ingrained within it the means of survival; how to find food, how to mate and care for young. Each species a miracle in its own right. The same with plants, each possessing its own beauty and function. Plants and herbs to cure diseases, plants with the ability to survive in the most inhospitable of environments, these are wonders. I saw pictures yesterday of trees growing out of solid rocks and I was filled with wonder at the tenacity of creation, of life.
There are mysteries of the spiritual unknown. Things we strive to understand that seem always just an inch beyond our grasp. Wonders of the supernatural and the paranormal. There are mysteries of religions and miracles that dazzle our minds and spirits. Questions of why we are here and where we are going; mysteries of life and of death, all wonders.
The world and the universe it's part of, what infinite wonders surround us. If you feel no wonder at all of this and at life itself, you are dead already.
